Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken

Key criteria in the Oostappen Groep are 'child friendliness', 'quality', 'safety', 'hospitality', and 'complete vacation'. Fulfilment of these qualifications is what we focus on every day. Observing the behaviour of guests tells us exactly what they perceive to be a carefree vacation. Peter Gillis trusts his 'gut feeling' and the success of the recreation parks confirms his powerful intuition: supply matches today's short-stay tourist's perceptions.

Oostappen Groep operates on the all-in principle; families fully enjoying all free activities, regardless vacation budget.

Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken balloon

Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken now operates its own balloon. The Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken balloon made its first flight from Recreation Park Prinsenmeer on 13 May 2010. 9 lucky guests enjoyed the flight, a great success!

Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken now operates balloon trips alternately from all Oostappen Groep recreation parks at weekends and during the vacation periods. Also want to enjoy a trip in this unique balloon? Ask at Reception about options and availability. A unique concept and an unforgettable experience for all.

Evidently, the safety of our guests comes first. Favourable weather conditions, wind velocity, wind direction and landing sites result in safe flights. So a flight might be cancelled for safety reasons. If this happens, guests who booked an arrangement incl. balloon will receive a free weekend/midweek at the Oostappen Groep recreation park.

History

Recreation Park Strandbad Oostappen was acquired by Peter Gillis in 1986. At the time of acquisition, there were 300 permanent and 200 tourist sites on 50 hectares of grounds, 10 hectares of which water. Anno 2009, this same area holds 1,700 sites varying from permanent and tourist sites to rental chalets and caravans.

Recreation Park Oostappen was followed by Recreation Parks Blauwe Meer (1998), Droomgaard (January 2000), Brugse Heide (November 2000), Recreation Park Elfenmeer (November 2002), Recreation Park Hengelhoef (November 2002), Recreation Park De Berckt (December 2003), and Recreation Park Arnhem (January 2005). The last in this series of acquisitions was Recreation Park Parelstrand in Lommel-Kolonie, Belgium in May 2005.

After this explosive growth, management decided to restructure the organization with a permanent focus on its core business of recreation & leisure. In the near future the focus will be on quality improvement and expansion of rental objects at all Oostappen Groep recreation parks. The organization has realized 650 new rental objects for the 2010 season. Management recently decided to start exploring new acquisition candidates. The candidate is to fit the vision of Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken in terms of area, number of camping and rental sites, high-grade and up-to-date central facilities etc. This resulted on 8 March 2010 in the acquisition of Recreation Park Zilverstrand in Mol, Belgium. The 10th Oostappen Groep Vakantieparken recreation park!
